In Not Knowing

“Not knowing can be paralysing, prohibitive.  It can usher in the feelings of anxiety and embarrassment, the debilitating sense of being at a loss or lost, unable to see a way out or forward … not knowing is an active space within practice, wherein an artist hopes for an encounter with something new or unfamiliar, unrecognisable or unknown” (Cocker 2013).
